Hebron Elementary School

We would like to welcome you to the Hebron Elementary School (HES) Website. HES is a grades 3-6 elementary school with approximately 650 students situated in the rural Connecticut town of Hebron. Our work with ALL of our students, teachers, staff, and families revolves our mission that HES stands for “Helping Everyone Succeed”. Our effort to help everyone succeed begins with the strong commitment to education and high involvement of the parents and families of our students. We know, understand, and appreciate how the strong connection between school and home helps foster the success of the students at HES.
Our dedicated faculty and staff create the conditions to Help Everyone Succeed by ensuring a positive school climate for the members of the school community. We teach, share, recognize, and celebrate our six Pillars of Character throughout the school year. We further utilize a Positive Behavioral Support (PBS) system with the district-wide expectations of “Respect Yourself, Respect Others, and Respect Your School and Bus” to help promote a positive school climate.
We recognize that to Help Everyone Succeed we need to provide instruction that meets the wide and varied needs of our students. This begins in the grade level and unified arts classes where students engage in a rigorous curriculum which aligns with state standards and is differentiated to address the needs, experiences, and learning styles of our students. In addition to a strong core curriculum, students may also receive additional support in reading and math within the classroom from a grade level teacher or outside the classroom by a reading or math specialist. We carefully monitor the progress of students in these groups to ensure they are making appropriate growth and are being provided an appropriate level of service. Additionally, students may also receive instruction beyond our core curriculum through our Challenge and Enrichment program.
The annual School Improvement Plan reflects our commitment to the continuous development of our school. This plan serves as a strong link between district goals and the needs of teachers in the classroom. Through the plan, action steps are defined that provide collaborative opportunities for teachers to improve their practice as individuals and as a collective professional group. The Results and Outcomes Report from the 2010-2011 school year (provide link) provides insight into the type of work our professional staff engages in to Help Everyone Succeed at HES.
The efforts of our parents and families, faculty and staff, and administration and board of education helped Hebron Elementary School be recognized as a 2010 National Blue Ribbon school, and have created a school where we can truly say that HES stands for Helping Everyone Succeed!
